LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior midfielder Justin Wolf (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) picked up his second academic honor of the postseason this week when he was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention player. Earlier this fall he landed on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team.
Wolf has started every game for Bucknell over the last two seasons and has started 54 of 60 career contests at his midfield position. He netted the first two goals of his career early this past year, scoring the game-winner late in a 2-1 victory over Campbell, while it took him just 53 seconds to score against a potent Colgate defense that had yielded just one goal to that point in the season.
With seven points in 2006, Wolf finished third on the team. He ended the regular season with two goals and one assist, but tallied assists on each of Bucknell's two postseason goals. He gave the ball to Dirk Swaneveld for the game-tying goal against Lehigh in the Patriot League semifinals. Wolf then assisted on Mark Schmiegel's overtime game-winning score against George Mason in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Wolf has 12 points in his career, which will rank third among Bison entering the 2007 campaign. His eight career assists are the most of any Bucknell player, while he is just five shy of appearing on the program's top-10 list.
A management major and an economics minor with a 3.52 cumulative grade-point average, Wolf is a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member and a four-time Dean's List selection. In recent years Wolf has volunteered his time to help remodel a local YMCA and donated funds to the YMCA as well. Last summer he served as a finance/business intern at Chief Enterprises, a dedicated supplier to the sign and screen print industries. Additionally, based on his business background and problem-solving skills, Wolf was selected to take part in the prestigious Johnson & Johnson Case Study in the spring of 2006.
Wolf helped lead Bucknell to a 9-8-6 record and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament this past fall. The Bison graduate just one senior from the squad that won just the second NCAA Tournament match in program history.
