LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the second time in three weeks, Bucknell junior Hope Foster (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) was named the Patriot League Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. The 6-2 forward averaged 15.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 blocks as the Bison went 2-1 in three games last week.
Foster, who ranks first in the Patriot League in field goal percentage (57.1%), free throw percentage (88.9%) and blocked shots (5.9 bpg), opened the week with 14 points, six rebounds and six blocks as Bucknell upended Cornell 73-59. She followed that by narrowly missing her fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 19 points, nine rebounds and two blocks as the Bison defeated Monmouth 67-53 in their first game at the Caribbean Classic in Cancun, Mexico. Foster again led the squad in scoring during a 58-40 loss to Richmond the next day as she tallied 13 points to go along with a team-high five rebounds and five blocks.
With her 13 blocks last week, Foster moved into sole possession of second place on the Patriot League career blocks list with 208, just 101 shy of the record. With 41 blocks this season, Foster now owns three of the top five single-season blocks marks in Bucknell history. She recorded the top two figures her first two campaigns and is tied for fourth on the list with Marie Kocornik this year.
In addition to ranking at the top of the Patriot League in a number of categories, Foster is second in scoring (16.0 ppg) and rebounding (9.0 rpg).
A career 62.3% free throw shooter entering this season, Foster made a career-best 24 consecutive free throws before missing her final attempt against Richmond. She has connected on 32 of 36 this season and has seen her career percentage rise to nearly 68%.
Seniors Lindsey Hollobaugh (Loganton, Pa./Central Mountain) and Jacquie Seawright (Olton, Texas/Olton) were named to the Patriot League's honorable mention list. Hollobaugh averaged 10.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game last week, while Seawright poured in 9.3 points and 3.7 rebounds off the bench
After a busy early season schedule that featured seven games in 16 days, Bucknell (4-3) is idle until Thursday when it hosts St. Bonaventure at 7 p.m. The Bison then play Marist Saturday at 3:30 p.m., immediately following the men's contest with Northern Iowa.
