LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Susquehanna Valley Mall was packed with shoppers as holiday music rang throughout the air. Holiday spirit was everywhere, and the Bucknell women's lacrosse team was especially spreading the good cheer!
On Saturday, Nov. 19, the team arrived at the mall, decked out in Bucknell gear and holiday flair, ready lend a hand in Evangelical Community Hospital's Third Annual "Evening of Giving." One Bison student-athlete, Erin Turner, was covered from head to toe in an elf's outfit. Many of the players were sporting elf hats or reindeer antlers.
Evangelical Hospital put together the event to raise money for the help-line, a device given to the elderly in case of emergency. These devices are worn on the wrist of neck and allowed patients the proper access to contact help in case of emergency. By the looks of the number of people in attendance, the Evening of Giving has obviously been a rather popular event.
The doors re-opened at the Susquehanna mall at 6 p.m., and the store discounts began. The Bucknell team was stationed all throughout the mall. Players were at every entrance collecting tickets for the raffle drawing, and they were at every food sampling table, the gift wrapping table and the coat check. The mall had food samples from Garfield's, Applebee's, BJ's, Arby's, and Manzonni's pizzeria. Wherever the Bison were stationed, whether it was giving out fudge samples or collecting coats, they were actively engaged in helping out for this great cause. Many of the follow volunteers from other organizations in the community complimented the team on their hard work and enthusiasm. Turner, the elf look-a-like, was the biggest hit of the evening, especially with the children. She made many of the children smile and laugh, and even got some of them to tell her what they wanted for Christmas!

All in all, the event seemed to be a great success. Not only did Evangelical raise money for the help-line, but the Bison student-athletes were able to give back to the community.
"The bonding that takes place at events like these are irreplaceable," said head coach Jess Spadafora. "It is always nice to see the girls off the turf and provide opportunities for them to shine in all aspects of life. As coaches we were proud of our athletes' commitment to the Evening of Giving, and we would be thrilled to return in the future to provide more assistance to this great cause." .
