LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell men's basketball coach Pat Flannery has issued the following statement regarding postgame comments made after Tuesday's night's game against Wake Forest.
"In the aftermath of a very emotional game for myself and our players, I made negative comments that were critical of the officiating and the crew assigned to work the game. I am disappointed that my comments took attention away from an outstanding college basketball game in which the student-athletes from Bucknell and Wake Forest played so hard. I recognize that there are League procedures and parameters in place to address these types of issues, and my comments were outside those boundaries. I have met with our athletics department leadership and given them assurances, along with the League office, that all future officiating issues will be handled appropriately, and in this regard, I will not comment any further on the officiating from the Wake Forest game or the officiating in any future contest."
Bucknell returns to action on Sunday against Saint Joseph's at 2 p.m. at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse in Philadelphia.
