Bucknell's Emily Groendyke Tabbed ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa - For the second time this season, senior Emily Groendyke (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) of the Bucknell field hockey team was named ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week. The senior becomes the seventh Patriot League student-athlete to be honored by the ECAC this year. Groendyke also earned Goalkeeper of the Week plaudits from the Patriot League for the third time this season earlier this week.
Groendyke, who was selected by the ECAC on Sept. 13 with fellow teammate senior Callista Costopoulos (Shermans Dale, Pa./West Perry), produced a shutout performance over No. 18 Villanova, tallying 10 saves in the 2-0 upset. The Glen Gardner, N.J., native also collected nine saves in Bucknell's 2-0 loss to Lafayette over the weekend. For the week, Groendyke notched 19 saves and owned a .904 save percentage.
On the season, the senior netminder leads the Patriot League in save percentage with .754. She has notched 89 saves while only giving up 29 goals. She currently stands third in the league in goals against average (2.02) and saves per game (5.93). Groendyke has also collected two shutouts.
The Bucknell field hockey team will compete in the Patriot League Championships this Saturday, Nov. 4, in Washington, D.C., as the number four seed. The Bison will battle top-seeded American at 11 a.m.
