Strong Second Half Leads Bucknell Men's Water Polo over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 12-4

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Mark Masterson (Kihei, Hawaii/Marin), Jason Rechel (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) and Kyle Roslyn (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter) scored two goals apiece to lead the Bucknell men's water polo team to a perfect 4-0 mark at the Claremont Convergence with a 12-4 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Saturday night.
For the second straight game the Bison used a balanced scoring attack as nine different players netted goals. Unlike the earlier game Saturday, in which Bucknell downed Cal Lutheran 16-7 behind nine first-half goals, the Bison used a strong second half to get past the Stags. After leading just 3-2 at halftime, Bucknell tallied four goals in the third quarter and five more in the final period.
In addition to his offensive output, Roslyn recorded a career-high five steals, while Sean Robinson (San Marino, Calif./San Marino) registered three for the second straight game.
Masterson, who leads the team with 59 points, dished out a team-high four assists to establish a new career high. On Friday, Masterson set a new career high with six goals.
Luke Belenky (Kensington, Md./German School) was called upon to make just two saves in the game for Bucknell, which held its opponent to four goals or less for the fifth time this season.
The Bison continue their busy weekend in California with two more games Sunday. They take on No. 13 Pepperdine at 4:20 p.m. (Eastern) and then play No. 8 UC Davis for the first time in the history of the program at 8:20 p.m.
