Bucknell Men's Tennis Competes in Day Two of the Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa - The Bucknell men's tennis team won a total of eight singles matches and were led by freshman Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick), who recorded a pair of singles victories in Flight Four and a doubles win in Flight Three, as it continued play at the Bucknell Invitational Saturday.
Hascoe defeated Christian Malerba of Connecticut in straight-sets, 6-0, 7-5, in the second round and dropped Quinnipiac's Mike Racioppo in a three-set tiebreaker, 6-3, 3-6 (10-6), in the third. Junior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk. N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper) lost his second round match to UMBC's Irfan Shamasdin, 5-7, 4-6, but bounced back in the third round to beat Ben Schueler of Connecticut, 6-2, 6-0, in the Flight One.
In Flight Two, sophomore Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) lost a thrilling three-set tiebreaker in the second round to Stephano Salvatore of Quinnipiac, 2-6, 6-3 (9-11). In the third round, Sandburg took down Connecticut's Joey Michaels, 6-4, 6-2. In the third round of the Flight Five singles, sophomore Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergan Catholic) notched a straight-set victory over Quinnipiac's Tom Curren, 6-0, 6-2. Sophomores Sidharth Makkar (Queens, N.Y./Bronx School of Science) and Benjamin Rosenstock (West Essex, N.J./West Essex) collected their first singles wins of the invitational in Flights Six and Eight. Makkar beat Connecticut's Aaron Ridchinsky, 6-4, 1-6 (11-9), while Rosenstock was victorious over Tom Cook, 6-2, 4-6 (10-7). Junior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) wrapped up the eighth Bison victory when he defeated Jeff Klar of Connecticut, 6-0, 6-3, in the third round of Flight Seven .
In doubles play, the pair of Hascoe and Bednarek defeated the team of Nate Carvalho and Joel Gamoran of Connecticut, 8-1.
The Bison will compete in the final day of the Bucknell Invitational Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Bucknell Tennis Courts, beginning at 9 a.m.
