Bucknell's Varsity Four Wins at Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bucknell women's rowing team posted its first-ever victory at the Head of the Charles Saturday afternoon. The varsity four placed first in the 22-boat race with a time of 20 minutes, 27.227 seconds.
Penn State was the only team within 25 seconds of the Bison as the Nittany Lions crossed the line less than two seconds behind Bucknell, which led the entire race. Simmons College took third in a time of 20:52.769.
The Bison boat, which has two first-place finishes and a runner-up showing in three events this fall, consisted of stroke-Kelly Henkler, 3-Page Kannor, 2-Caitlin Doolin, bow-Whittney Henry and coxswain Katie Kessler.
"Our student-athletes did a great job preparing these last three weeks," stated 11th-year Bucknell head coach Stephen Kish. "I am very happy for them and their accomplishment as we look ahead to next week when we will have the whole team with us."
Bucknell wraps up its fall season next Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, Pa. While the varsity four has been the only boat competing so far this fall, many novices, recruits and varsity team members will see action next week.
