LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman A.J. Kizekai (Pawtucket, R.I./Blair Academy) continued the torrid start to his career with a pair of touchdowns in Saturday's victory at Marist, and he was rewarded with Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors. Kizekai becomes the fourth different Bison freshman to be named rookie of the week in five weeks this season.
Kizekai made his collegiate debut in the fourth quarter at No. 7 Richmond two weeks ago and scored a touchdown on a 36-yard run on his very first career carry. Last week in a 48-19 win at Marist, he helped put the game away early with two 35-yard touchdown runs in the second quarter.
In two games, he now has 9 carries for 139 yards and three TDs. He is already tied for the team lead in touchdowns and fourth in rushing yards on only those nine touches.
Now 3-2 on the season, Bucknell ranks second in the nation in rushing at 267.8 yards per game.
Earlier this season, running back Rashod Bumpers, defensive back Brigham Farrand and linebacker Sam Nana-Sinkam earned rookie of the year honors.
The Bison host Penn on Homecoming this Saturday at 1 p.m.
