LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman Molly Linhart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) was honored as the Patriot League women's soccer BRINE Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Linhart's accolade was the first of her career and the first for a Bison rookie in 2006, the squad's seventh PL honor overall. Also receiving recognition for the Orange and Blue were senior Katie Dry (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and junior Krista Lee Gentile (North Haledon, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) who were both named Patriot League honorable mention.
Linhart scored in the 40th minute of Bucknell's 3-1 victory over American this past Saturday to give the Orange and Blue a 3-0 lead at the end of the first half. The tally was the third of the year for Linhart, who leads all Bison freshmen with six points on three goals this season.
Dry was recognized for notching her ninth win of the year, matching a career high, as she turned aside five Eagles' shots in the contest. She has not allowed more than one goal in a game since facing Colorado College on Sept. 3.
Gentile netted the game-winner for Bucknell against American and notched an assist on the opening tally. Her current total of four game-winning goals leads the Patriot League.
The Bison return to action this weekend, Oct. 20 and 22, when the squad will close out the home portion of its regular season schedule with Patriot League matches against Army on Friday at 7 p.m., and against Holy Cross on Sunday at 1 p.m.
