Bucknell Men's Tennis Competes at the Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Bucknell men's tennis team finished the first day of competition at the Quinnipiac Invitational with all eight players notching first round victories. Along with Bucknell and Quinnipiac, Connecticut, Fairfield, Fairleigh Dickinson, Holy Cross, Rhode Island and Sacred Heart are competing this weekend in Hamden, Conn.
In Flight A singles for the Bison, No. 1-seeded junior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper) defeated Angelo Sica of Holy Cross, 6-0, 6-0, while sophomore Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) took down No. 2 Prist Gross of FDU in a three-set tiebreaker, 6-3, 3-6 (10-3). Freshman Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) stifled No. 4 Chip Palumbo of Fairfield, 6-2, 6-3, in the Flight B singles for the Orange and Blue. Also in the Flight B, No. 2 sophomore Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) defeated Fairfield's Zachary Morrison in a two-set tiebreaker, 6-2, 7-6(4).
In Flight C, sophomore Sidharth Makkar (Queens, N.Y./Bronx School of Science) dropped No. 4 Kyle Eddins of FDU, 7-5, 6-4, while No. 2 sophomore Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) beat URI's Mark Marcello in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-2. No. 3 junior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) took down Mark Mareri of Sacred Heart, 6-1, 6-1, while sophomore Benjamin Rosenstock (West Essex, N.J./West Essex) defeated Matt Vicidomino of Holy Cross, 6-1, 6-1, in the Flight D bracket.
The Bucknell men's tennis team will continue competition at the Quinnipiac Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14, beginning at 9 a.m.
