LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell head men's lacrosse coach Frank Fedorjaka has announced that seniors Brian Gargan (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph's), Kirk Klett (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt. Lebanon), Greg Sowyrda (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) and Paul Stansik (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) have been elected captains for the 2007 season. Each of the four is expected to play a large role for the Bison this spring.

"I am very excited about the selection of this year's captains," said Fedorjaka. "There is great balance with two offensive and two defensive players, and they have all been successful players in their own right. To have four guys get voted by their peers to be captains, each one of them getting more than half of the team's vote, says a lot about the senior leadership on this team. As a coach, I am tremendously excited to work with this group because of that leadership."

Gargan is looking to bounce back from a knee injury that cost him the entire 2006 campaign. Prior to the injury the former walk-on had been a neat success story. He quickly earned a starting berth as a freshman, when he totaled 14 goals and three assists playing both attack and midfield. In 2005 he had 13 goals and two assists as a starting attackman, and he was a projected starter again last season until tearing an ACL early in preseason practice.

Klett is a three-year letterman who has started at attack in each of the last two seasons. He was Bucknell's second-leading scorer as both a sophomore (29 goals, 4 assists) and junior (22 goals, 1 assist). An outstanding finisher in front of the cage, Klett ranked fourth in the Patriot League in goals per game in 2005 and seventh last season.
Sowyrda and Stansik are both key members of Bucknell's defensive corps. Sowyrda has played in 38 career games and is a strong takeaway defender. He has 41 career ground balls to his credit, with a high of 22 in 2004. A long-stick midfielder, Stansik is one of the most improved players in the Bison program. After playing in seven games as a freshman, he became a regular in the lineup by his sophomore year and is now one of the top long-stick middies in the Patriot League. He had a career-high 12 ground balls last season and was excellent in transition.

Bucknell is coming off a 6-8 season that featured a double-overtime victory over No. 1 Maryland and another top-20 road win over No. 13 Penn State.
