LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the third time in five weeks a Bucknell women's basketball player earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors when Amanda Brown (Richardson, Texas/L.V. Berkner) picked up the award Tuesday.
In the first game of the week, a 74-63 victory at Buffalo, Brown notched a career-high 22 points on 9 of 15 shooting as she tied junior Jacquie Seawright (Olton, Texas/Olton) for team-high honors. It was the second time in three outings she tallied at least 20 points. The point guard played 32 minutes off the bench and also grabbed two rebounds and dished out one assist.
Brown again came off the bench during a 60-42 loss to Delaware State two days later and played 22 minutes. She scored four points and snared three rebounds as the Bison saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.
This season, Brown is second on the team in scoring at 10.3 points per game. She is averaging 28.3 minutes per contest despite coming off the bench in all 11 games. Brown is one of only two Bison to have at least an even assist-to-turnover ratio with 21 assists and 21 turnovers this season.
Brown is the third different Bucknell player to win the PL Rookie of the Week award this year, following classmates Corrine Keller (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) and Lauren Schober (Chicago, Ill./Regina Dominican).
Bucknell hosts Stony Brook Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The Bison open Patriot League play Saturday, Jan. 7, at Navy.
