Bucknell Women's Tennis Completes Day-Two at Cornell Invite

ITHACA, N.Y. - Bucknell's women's tennis team finished day two of competition at the Cornell Invite in Ithaca, N.Y., on Saturday, Jan. 28. Senior Veronica Brown (Derwood, Md./Col. Zadok Magruder) and her partner, freshman Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates) defeated a pair from Columbia, 8-3, and will compete in the Flight A Doubles championship match, on Sunday morning, Jan. 29.
Caitlin Baffa (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East), the lone Bison left in the singles main-draw bracket, won her singles match in Flight D, over an athlete from Colgate, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, and advanced to the semifinals, which will be played on Sunday.
Brown won her consolation singles Flight A match over Megan Noble of Army, via walkover.
Following the Invite, the Orange and Blue will be back in action on Feb. 11, as it hosts Quinnipiac in the first dual match of the 2006 season.
