Bucknell Men's Swimming and Diving Pair Picks Up Patriot League Weekly Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior diver Adam Freeman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and sophomore swimmer Grant Steadman (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) both earned Patriot League weekly honors on Tuesday. Freeman was named Male Diver of the Week for the second-consecutive week and Steadman was selected as the league's Male Swimmer of the Week after earning Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week honors on Monday.
Freeman finished first in the one-meter dive with a score of 293.85 and finished second in the three-meter dive (260.18) to help Bucknell defeat Colgate by a 200.5-94.5 margin on Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Hamilton, N.Y. Then on Saturday, Jan. 21, in a loss to Columbia, he finished second in the one-meter with a mark of 281.85 and third in the three-meter with 262.65 points.
Steadman won the 50 free with a time of 21.83 and the 100 free with a time of 47.72 in the victory over Colgate. In the same meet, Steadman anchored the 200 medley relay that won the event with a time of 1:34.78. Later in the week, Steadman set new team season-best times in the 50 free (21.44) and in the 100 free (47.18) against Columbia, finishing first and second in those events, respectively. Once again, he was a part of the 200 medley relay squad which won the event in 1:34.68.
The Bison will next compete on Friday, Jan. 27, as the team will close out its 2005-06 home schedule with a dual meet against Delaware beginning at 6 p.m. in Kinney Natatorium.
