LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's soccer junior forward Jennifer Margolis (Englishtown, N.J./Manalapan) was named Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday after notching her third and fourth game-winning goals of the season to lead the Bison to a 2-0 record last week.
Margolis scored twice as the team celebrated its Varsity Soccer Field dedication with a 3-2 win over the Red Foxes. Her first tally came just 3:01 into the contest and later she put the Bison out in front, 3-2, at 71:03 to clinch the victory.
On Sunday against Robert Morris, Margolis sent a shot towards the Colonials' net in the 58th minute that deflected off a defender for her team-leading seventh goal of the season and fifth goal in the last four games. So far in 2005, Margolis has a team-high 15 points on seven goals and one assist.
Margolis also climbed the Bison career record lists this past week as she moved into ninth in points with 38 and is eighth in career goals with 15. She also set a new career high with seven goals on the season.
After picking up a 2-1 victory over Robert Morris on Sunday, Bucknell has now won three straight matches, the team's longest winning streak since 2003. The Bison currently sit at 4-4 on the season and hold a 3-1 record at home on the new Varsity Soccer Field.
Bucknell will look to push its streak to four on Tuesday, Sept. 20, when the Bison will play host to St. Francis (Pa.) in a non-conference match beginning at 7 p.m.
