LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell senior-to-be Lectie Altman competed in three events at last week's ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships in Irvine, Calif. She qualified in the 200-meter backstroke and also swam time trials in the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter freestyle.
Altman was disqualified at the start of the 200 back, but she bounced back to post personal bests in both the 100 back and 100 free. She swam 1:06.84 (long course) in the 100 back and 1:01.17 in the 100 free.
"Competing at a national meet of this caliber was a great experience for Lectie," said Bucknell head coach Jerry Foley. "She got a little excited on the start of the 200 back, but it was valuable preparation for next near as she aims to qualify for the NCAA meet."
Altman, who is a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, has helped lead the Bison to three straight conference women's swimming and diving titles. She holds Bucknell and Patriot League records in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events, and she has also competed on 200 and 400 medley relay units that also won Patriot League gold medals and smashed school and league records in 2005.
