LEWISBURG, Pa. - Two Bucknell softball players earned spots on the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine University Division Softball District II All-Academic Team, announced Thursday. Lauren Wible, who is making her second consecutive appearance on the squad, and Megan Good, who is making her first appearance on the team, were the Bison selected to the 11-player team. Both players are now finalists for national CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, scheduled to be announced June 2.
To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.20 GPA and be a starter or key reserve on his/her team.
Good was the only sophomore to appear on the all-district team, which consists of four infielders, three outfielders, two pitchers, one catcher and one designated player. Seton Hall, which had three players selected, was the only other team to have more than one player honored.
Wible, a junior first baseman who ended the season with a 16-game hitting streak intact, wrapped up the 2005 campaign with a .524 batting average, which currently leads the nation and is a new Bucknell and Patriot League record. Wible's batting average is also the 11th-best in NCAA Division I history.

Wible, who was a co-captain for the second consecutive season, was the only Bucknell player to play in and start all 38 games this year. She led the team in nearly every offensive category, and with a solo home run against Army in the Patriot League Tournament, extended her own Bucknell single-season record to eight home runs. She also has 14 in her career, which is best in Bucknell history.
The Dover, Pa., native paced the team with 31 runs batted in and broke the Bucknell single-season standard for doubles by collecting 15. She fell just three total bases short of equaling Jenny Snyder's season record of 96. Wible also had at least one hit in 34 of 38 games, including 34 of her last 36, and 27 of her last 28. After going 0-for-7 in her first two games, Wible ended the season on a 54-for-96 (.563) tear.
Along with her offensive prowess, which saw her raise her career average from .305 to .374 this year, Wible had another excellent defensive season. The left-hander committed just three errors in 340 chances for a .991 fielding percentage. She did not commit an error over her final 11 games of the season and has just 12 in her three-year career.
Off the field, the English major owns a 3.75 cumulative GPA and has been a Dean's List member every semester of her college career. An NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete in 2003-04 and the winner of the Charles F. White Memorial Prize for Scholar-Athletes, Wible has been a regular on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. A two-year resident assistant, she is also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.
In her first year as a regular player Good, a sophomore infielder who is predominantly a second baseman, was second on the Bison behind Wible with a .295 batting average. She played in 29 games and started 20, despite battling health issues late in the season. The Conestoga, Pa., native was 18-for-61 last year and scored six runs. She hit two doubles and tied for the team lead with one triple. Good also drove in five runs.
In mid-April Good put together a career-best six-game hitting streak that featured three consecutive multi-hit games. Her best game was a 3-for-4 showing with three runs batted in during a 7-3 win in the second game of a doubleheader sweep against Holy Cross. She was 5-for-9 in the doubleheader. Good finished the year with five multi-hit contests. Bucknell was 5-0 in games Good tallied more than one hit.
An economics major with a 3.72 GPA, Good has been a member of both the Dean's List and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. A member of the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society, she is president of the Student Health Action Group. The sophomore also participates in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program.
After upending top seed and host Lehigh in the first game of the Patriot League Tournament, Bucknell lost back-to-back contests to second-seeded Army and the Mountain Hawks. The Bison ended their year with a 16-22 record, and were 8-10 in Patriot League play during the regular season.
