Statement from Bucknell Head Coach Tim Landis

"The Bucknell football family is devastated by the loss of Mark Oppong. It is hard to make sense of something like this. You don't ever think this can happen to someone so young and healthy, but it is a reminder to all of us how fragile life can be. We called Mark the `gentle giant.' He was very well-liked, and he was easy to get to know. He was just a really friendly guy, and that attracted people to him.
We are a team and a family, and that is what we will rely on now to help us get through this difficult time. We will try to stay together and be there for one another.
Mark's mother, Doris, is a very strong lady, and in many ways she helped comfort us during these last painful hours. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with her, as well as Mark's father, Alex, and two brothers, Dennis and Eddie."
