LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior Adam Freeman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) has been named the Patriot League Men's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year, announced by the league offices on Thursday. This is the second such honor in Freeman's Bison career, after garnering the award during his sophomore campaign in 2002-03.
Freeman claimed the silver medal in the one-meter dive at the 2005 Patriot League Championships, one of only two Bison men to notch a second place performance. He added to the Bison scoring in the three-meter dive, finishing fourth overall. For his efforts at the championships, Freeman was selected to the All-Patriot League second team.
Freeman snapped the school record in the one meter dive in two consecutive weeks, finally setting the mark at 318.15, a score he tallied at the Bison Invitational on Feb. 12. At the same competition, Freeman shattered his own school record in the three-meter dive (11 dives) with a score of 508.35. During the season, Freeman notched a total of seven event victories.
He was the only Bison on men's side to participate in postseason competition, qualifying for the NCAA Zone `A' Diving Championships in Annapolis, Md., in March. Freeman had two commendable performances, finishing 21st in both the one and three-meter dives, narrowly missing spots in the 18-competitor final in each event.
