
Bison Women's Tennis Thumps Local Foe Bloomsburg 7-0

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bison women's tennis team rebounded from yesterday's tough loss to Binghamton, pounding Bloomsburg 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon on the Bucknell Tennis Courts in Lewisburg, Pa. The Bison move to 16-5 on the year, tying the school record for most wins in a season.
The Bison won in dominating fashion, putting the Huskies away in straight sets in five of six singles matches. Nada Curcic picked up a win, besting Iida Hokkanen at one singles, 6-7, 6-2, 10-8. At two singles, Veronica Brown notched a victory, beating Emily Murphy, 6-3, 6-2. Tanya Sichko was the winner at three singles, shutting out Lindsey Wyckoff, 6-0, 6-0.
Chelsea Mills won at four singles, defeating Torie Cunningham, 7-5, 6-0. Rheanna Gaskin was tough at five singles, upending Kim Harvey, 7-5, 6-0. Caitlin Baffa earned the sixth Bison point, taking out Tracy Nissenbaum, 6-3, 6-1, at six singles.
The Bison were just as tough in doubles play with Brown and Curcic slamming Hokkanen and Emily Pratt, 8-2, at one doubles. Mills and Sichko dominated the competition at two doubles, pounding Lauren Colfer and Nissenbaum, 8-1.
Bucknell will play its final scheduled match of the season on Sunday when they travel to Newark, Del., to take on the Blue Hens of Delaware. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. on April 24.
