
Bucknell Women's Tennis Clobbers Villanova 7-0

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Bison women's tennis team slammed Villanova 7-0, on Thursday afternoon in Villanova, Pa. The victory is the 10th of the season for Bucknell, which improves to 10-1 for the spring. The Bison are also 9-1 against non-league opponents.
Nada Curcic and Veronica Brown began the Bison domination at one doubles, upending Villanova's Courtney Flezzani and Leighann Reilly, 8-1. The win is the ninth-straight for the pair. Daniella Shtemberg and Tanya Sichko kept the momentum going at two doubles, besting Morgan Flezzani and Melissa Reed, 8-2. On the third court, Rheanna Gaskin and Chelsea Mills won an 8-6 decision over Taryn Cappellini and Lindsey Puchyr.
At one singles, Curcic won her ninth-straight, taking out Candice Carlin, 6-1, 6-7 (3), 6-2. Daniella Shtemberg won on court two, besting Courtney Flezzani, 6-4, 7-5. Brown was the winner at three singles, fighting back from a set down to defeat Reilly, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.
At four singles, Sichko upended Puchyr, 7-5, 6-1. Gaskin beat Morgan Flezzani at four singles, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4. Finally, Chelsea Mills won with little effort at court six, shutting out Zoe Murray, 6-0, 6-0.
The Bison will be back in Lewisburg this weekend for a Patriot League contest against Army at 12 p.m., Saturday on the Bison Tennis Courts. Bucknell will hit the road on Sunday to take on Delaware at 1 p.m. in Newark, Del.
