LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman Kristina Collymore became the second Bucknell women's basketball player to be honored by the Patriot League this season when she was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week Monday. The 5-5 guard joins classmate Hope Foster, who won the same award Dec. 28, as the only Bison honored in the weekly awards.
Collymore had a solid game off the bench in Bucknell's 58-56 loss to Army at Sojka Pavilion last Saturday. In just 13 minutes she tallied nine points, two rebounds and two assists, while turning the ball over just once. The nine points were tied for second most on the team.
Along with impressive 3 of 5 shooting from the field, Collymore converted all three of her free throw attempts. She has made nine consecutive free throws dating to the Lafayette game Feb. 11 to raise her shooting percentage to 68.4 percent from 62.5.
The Montclair, N.J., native, who drew the first two starts of her career last weekend against American and Navy, returned to her role off the bench against Army. She is sixth on the team in scoring at 5.5 points per game, while her 36 steals rank second on the squad.
Bucknell fell to 9-16 overall, 3-9 in the Patriot League with the loss to the Black Knights. The Bison, who led by 14 points in the second half, are currently in seventh place in the Patriot League standings with two games left in the regular season. The final home game of the campaign is Wednesday, Feb. 23, against Holy Cross. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion.
