Bison Swimming and Diving Readies for League Championships With Bison Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - In one last tune-up before the Patriot League Championships, the Bucknell swimming and diving teams took on Patriot League competition at the Bison Invitational, Saturday at Kinney Natatorium. Adam Freeman set a new school record in the three-meter dive on his way to winning both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Meghan Brown and Erika Mannix picked up individual wins on the women's side.
Freeman won the three-meter (11 dive format) in record-breaking fashion scoring a total of 508.35, shattering his own record of 475.95. Freeman took the one-meter with a tally of 318.15. Jake Thompson followed Freeman in second place in both events with scores of 252.90 in the one-meter and 375.10 in the three-meter.
Michael Taylor also notched a second place finish in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:22.89. Ian Rawhauser was the next highest finish with a third place showing in the 100 freestyle (47.61). Bucknell also fielded two third-place finishing relay squads with the team of Jake Thieman, Rawhauser, Brad Bennett and John Peterman in the 200 free relay (1:27.03) and the foursome of Mark Kretzer, Bennett, Grant Steadman and Peterman in the 200 medley relay (1:37.29).
On the women's side, Brown notched the only individual swimming victory of the day earning the top spot in the 500 free in a time of 5:10.74. Brown also swam to a third place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:20.80. Mannix was also tops finishing first in the one-meter dive with a total of 252.05. Mannix also made a second place showing in the three-meter dive tallying 416.16.
The Bison also had two first place relay teams with Lectie Altman, Jamie Flick, Mary Krakowski and Rebecca Scheffter in the 200 medley relay (1:48.75) and Alison Faux, Krakowski, Kristen Skroski and Scheffter in the 200 free relay (1:39.01). Also swimming to high finishes for the Bison were Katherine Munson with a second place showing in the 100 back (1:01.03), and Leslie DiMichelle taking the runner-up spot in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.92).
Next up for the Bison is the Patriot League Championships on Feb. 24-26. Bucknell will host the event at Kinney Natatorium with sessions taking place at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on each day of competition.
