LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's lacrosse coach Jess Spadafora has announced the selection of senior Rachel Prowler (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter), senior Lizzy McDaniel (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) and junior Lauren Kremer (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) as team captains for the 2006 season.
Prowler (defender), McDaniel (goalie) and Kremer (midfielder) represent the heart of Bucknell's defense. Prowler is a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection and one of the conference's elite defenders. She was the premier player on a solid Bison back line that proved to be one of the team's strengths last spring. Prowler started all 15 games, marking the third straight season she has played in every game, and ranked among the team leaders in caused turnovers (15) and ground balls (25). She also picked up the first two points of her career with a goal and an assist.
McDaniel started every game in goal last year and has started all but one game in the cage over the last two seasons. She ranked fourth in the Patriot League in saves last season with 131, and she compiled a .425 save percentage.

A former high school teammate of McDaniel (and also Bucknell freshman Nikki Chacosky), Kremer has been a starter since day one at Bucknell. As a rookie she played defensive midfield and led the team in caused turnovers and ranked among the team leaders in draw controls and ground balls. Last season she played more of an offensive role and chipped in 13 goals and an assist, while still leading the team in draw controls and ranking among the leaders in the defensive stats.

"I am very excited about this eclectic trio of captains," said Spadafora. "They bring a sense of leadership, desire and passion to the team and to the game. They know how to win and can motivate others in their own ways. They have embraced the 14 new members of our team with excitement and determination, and it was great to watch them all bond together during our very successful fall season. They have proven to their teammates and coaches that they have the tools to be terrific leaders."
The Bison, who finished 4-12 overall and 2-4 in the Patriot League last season, are coming off a terrific fall season in which they went 6-1-1 and allowed only 4.0 goals per game. Senior middie Emily Burman led the team with 14 goals while rookies Jackie Bodnar scored nine and Colleen Evans had eight. McDaniel had a solid .536 save percentage.
Bucknell opens its 2006 season on Feb. 28 at home against Binghamton at 4 p.m.
