LEWISBURG, Pa. - Four of Bucknell's field hockey players received All-Patriot League recognition, which was released on Wednesday afternoon, from the league office in Center Valley, Pa. Senior goalkeeper Liz Jordan (Towson, Md./St. Paul's) and junior Alex Kyzmir (Lisle, N.Y./Whitney Point) received first team honors while freshmen Amanda Faust (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and Steph Graf (Jamison, Pa/Central Bucks East) received second team recognition.
Jordan, after receiving second team honors for the past two seasons, received first team recognition for compiling a league-high 181 saves, a save percentage of .823 and a saves per game average of 10.65. Jordan set a career-high of 25 saves in a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Lehigh. The senior goalkeeper has earned the PL Defensive Player of the Week award twice this season and also has earned the ECAC Goalie of the Week award once. She currently is second in the nation in save percentage (.823) and tied for third in saves (181).
Kyzmir earns her second all-league honor, after receiving second team recognition in 2004. Kyzmir leads the Orange and Blue with seven goals and 10 assists, for 24 points, currently placing her eighth in the conference. Her 10 assists places her 10th in Bucknell's history for assists in a single season. She also ranks 10th among all Bison in season points and ranks second in career assists (19).
Faust, a freshman defender, sits second on the squad with six goals and six assists, for 18 points, while in a tie for sixth in the nation in defensive saves (6). The All-PL second team honoree also earned the PL's Rookie of the Week award for her performance last week, as she collected nine interceptions and two positive tackles.
Steph Graf earned second team recognition from the Patriot League. |
Graf, also named to the second team, is part of the defensive unit who, along with Faust, allowed just nine goals to PL opponents this season. Graf earned one PL Rookie of the Week honor for her play against the then No. 4 American, where she scored her first goal, which put the Bison up 1-0 at the end of the first half.
Bucknell will travel to Washington, D.C., for the PL Tournament, as the number two seed, hosted by No. 7 American. The Bison are scheduled to battle Holy Cross in the semi-final game on Saturday, November 5, at 1:30 p.m. If Bucknell wins, it will play in the championship game scheduled for Sunday, November 6, at noon.
