Two Bison Women's Tennis Team Members Complete Competition at ITA Regionals

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's women's tennis team sent two members to the ITA Regionals hosted by Army, at West Point, N.Y. The duo of freshman Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates) and senior Veronica Brown (Derwood, Md./Colonel Zadok Magruder) won its first of two matches in doubles action today.
The pair of Gamboa and Brown edged past Dorothy Iwanowicz and Susan Johnson of Massachusetts in the first round of the tournament, 8-6.
In the next round, in order to qualify for the quarterfinals in doubles, Gamboa and Brown needed to defeat a pair from William and Mary, but fell short, 8-2.
The pair has recorded five totals wins in doubles action this fall season.
The Bison women's tennis team concluded its fall campaign Sunday, but is scheduled to start the spring season Jan. 27, at the Cornell Invitational, in Ithaca, N.Y.
