WEST POINT, N.Y. - Sophomore Krista Lee Gentile (Haledon, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) was the lone goal scorer for the Bison as the Bucknell women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss against Army on Friday night. The Blue and Orange fell to 8-8-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the Patriot League following the setback, while the Black Knights improved to 9-4-1, 3-0-1 in the Patriot League.
The teams played a scoreless deadlock until 33:34 when Sarah Domme collected the ball and fired a shot up and over Bison goalkeeper Katie Dry (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) to give the Black Knights a 1-0 lead.
Army later made it a two-goal advantage 74:20 into the contest as Pia White sent a cross to Delaney Brown who completed the play with her ninth of the season.
The Bison were able to get on the scoreboard in the 86th minute when a shot by Gentile deflected off a defender and into the Black Knight's goal, but that would be all the team would manage despite taking 10 shots in the second half.
Army outshot Bucknell, 21-13, while the Bison held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Dry stopped four shots for Bucknell while Black Knights' goalkeeper Rebecca Garcia made three saves. Fouls were 10-5 against Army.
The Bison next travel to Worcester, Mass., to face Holy Cross in a league match on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m.
