ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Brad Roslyn (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter) scored a season-high four goals, and Jason Rechel (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) added three as nine different Bison scored at least one goal to lead the Bucknell men's water polo team to a 14-8 win over Salem International Saturday evening at MacDonough Hall.
The Bison, who improved to 3-0 against the Tigers this year, and have won four straight in the series, scored four goals in each of the first three quarters as they tallied their highest goal total since a 16-goal performance against MIT on Sept. 4. Bucknell jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as it held an 8-3 halftime advantage. After tacking on four more goals in the third quarter to jump ahead 12-3, the Bison were outscored 5-2 in the final period.
Roslyn, who had scored three goals on three occasions this year, tallied four goals to equal Mark Masterson (Kihei, Hawaii/Marin) for the highest figure by a Bison this year. Rechel equaled his season-high with his three-goal output.
In addition to Roslyn and Rechel, Sean Robinson (San Marino, Calif./San Marino), Masterson, Nick Ferring (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day), Joseph Metcalf (Knoxville, Tenn./Phillips Exeter Academy), Josh Sunday (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), Kyle Roslyn (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter) and Lee Anderson (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) scored single goals to add to the Bucknell attack that launched 25 shots.
Brad Roslyn, Aaron Platshon (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo School), Ferring and Kyle Roslyn added assists.
Senior goalkeeper Trevor Mullins (Orinda, Calif./Palo Alto) made seven saves for the Bison as he played the first three quarters and allowed just three goals. He now has a .500 save percentage as he has made 168 saves and allowed 168 goals this season. He has 626 career saves which ranks fifth in Bucknell history. Lucas Belenky (Kensington, Md./German School) relieved Mullins, who has started all 23 games this year, at the beginning of the fourth quarter and made one save.
The Bison, who improved to 9-14 overall and 5-3 in CWPA Southern Division play, wrap up their regular season Sunday, Oct. 16, with two road games. They will face George Washington in Washington, D.C., at 10 a.m. and Johns Hopkins at 2 p.m. in Baltimore, Md.
