Bison Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to Columbia, 162-136

NEW YORK - Adam Freeman, John Peterman and John Hoffman each nabbed a first place finish as the Bucknell men's swimming and diving squad fell to Columbia, 162-136, Saturday in New York, N.Y. Ian Rawhauser, William Schilling and Mark Kretzer also snatched first place honors, but did not register the fastest times in their respective events as some of the Columbia swimmers were moved to exhibition status. The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Rawhauser, Peterman, Andrew Maslan and Todd Bauer also earned first place points in a race with exhibition swimmers.
Freeman placed first in the one-meter dive scoring 279.45 points. Freeman also tallied 273.30 to take second place in the three-meter. Peterman took top honors in the 100 free with a time of 48.25 seconds and grabbed second place in the 50 free with a time of 22.16. Hoffman secured first place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:00.45, and placed third in the 200 free swimming a time of 1:47.50.
Schilling swam a time of 2:10.95 in the 200 breaststroke to earn first-place points. He also finished second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.60. Rawhauser took the top spot in the 200 backstroke clocking a time of 1:59.05. Kretzer was the top point-winner in the 100 butterfly swimming a time of 53.22. Kretzer also clocked a 2:02.38 to finish fourth in the 200 back.
The team of Rawhauser, Brad Bennett, Kretzer and Peterman took third in the 200 medley relay recording a time of 1:37.89. Matt Crandell was another high-place finisher taking third in the 200 fly in 2:01.98. Crandell also finished with second place points in the 100 fly in 55.27.
Theo Leriotis swam a time of 2:03.41 in the 200 IM, good for third place while Bauer won third place points in the 500 free with a 4:52.14. Diver Jake Thompson earned a pair of third place finishes scoring 232.72 in the three-meter event and recording 247.42 in the one-meter.
The Bison will be home at Kinney Natatorium for the remainder of the season starting with a meet against Lehigh on Feb. 5, beginning at 2 p.m. Bucknell will get one last tune-up at the Bison Invitational on Feb. 12, before hosting the Patriot League Championships on Thursday, Feb. 24, through Saturday, Feb. 26.
