Bison Swimming and Diving Teams End Up Winless Against Brown and North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - In their first competitions since Dec. 5, the Bucknell men's and women's swimming and diving teams came up winless in a tri-meet against Brown and North Carolina. The Bison men fell to the Brown Bears, 188-106, and to the North Carolina Tar Heels 167-124. The women took a 237-63 defeat at the hands of Brown while also falling short against North Carolina, 180-116.
Bison William Schilling was the top individual finisher on the men's side grabbing runner-up honors in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:10.89. The 400 freestyle relay team of Jake Thieman, Ian Rawhausser, Todd Bauer and J.B. Peterman also notched a second place finish.
A trio of Bison earned third place finishes on the afternoon. Todd Bauer took third in the 500 free with a time of 4:51.67 while Mark Kretzer placed third in the 100 butterfly swimming a time of 53.23. John Hoffman clocked a 2:01.38 in the 200 IM for a third place finish. Ian Rawhausser was a fourth place finisher for the Bison swimming a time of 1:58.99 in the 200 backstroke. Schilling also recorded a fourth place showing clocking a 1:00.46 in the 100 breast.
The Bison women got a second place effort from Laura Goeller who clocked a time of 2:11.18 in the 200 IM. The team of Kristen Skroski, Mary Krakowski, Lauren Butrie and Rebecca Scheffter also grabbed second place in the 400 freestyle relay.
Erika Mannix, Lectie Altman, Skroski and Krakowski each notched a fourth place finish in individual events. Mannix took fourth in the one-meter dive tallying a score of 206.90 while Altman clocked a 2:08.50 in the 200 back, Skroski swam a 5:18.73 in the 500 free for fourth and Krakowski raced to a 59.90 in the 100 fly.
Katherine Munson placed fifth in the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.57 while Nikki Woodward also finished fifth swimming a time of 2:31.22 in the 200 breast.
After a short layoff, the Bison will be back in action on Saturday against Colgate in Patriot League action in Kinney Natatorium, the site of the 2005 PL Championships. The meet is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
