Bucknell Men's Water Polo Falls to Long Beach State in First Game at Navy Open

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Bucknell men's water polo team opened its 28th season of competition Saturday at the Navy Open and fell to Long Beach State by a 10-4 score. The contest was the first game for both teams at the two-day Navy Open.
The Bison played the 49ers even through the first quarter with the score knotted at 2-2, but the Bison could not score in the second period as Long Beach State took a 4-2 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, the 49ers took command, outscoring Bucknell 4-1 in the frame. Over the final seven minutes, Long Beach State held a 2-1 edge on its way to its first victory of the season.
For the Bison, senior Bradley Roslyn scored three goals, while team co-captain and classmate Elliot Benoist added one. Fellow senior co-captain Aaron Platshon recorded Bucknell's lone assist in the game.
In goal, junior Trevor Mullins stopped three shots for the Bison.
Bucknell (0-1) will be back in action later this afternoon against Fordham. The game is slated to begin at 4:45 p.m. Sunday will feature just one game for the Bison as they battle Cal at 2:15 p.m. to conclude their appearance in the Navy Open.
