LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman Jason Rechel scored 23 seconds into overtime to lead the Bucknell men's water polo team to a thrilling 12-10 overtime victory over Salem International in the first game of the weekend-long Bucknell Invitational at Kinney Natatorium Friday night.
The Bison (2-2, 1-0), who never trailed, also received overtime goals from juniors Bradley Roslyn and Sean Robinson, along with senior Jay Danforth. After Danforth found the back of the net with 25 seconds remaining in the second three-minute overtime stanza, the Bison held a three-goal lead to equal their largest of the contest.
Salem forced overtime when Danilo Lazarevic knotted the score at 8-8 with just 15 seconds remaining in regulation. The tally was the fifth goal of the game for Lazarevic, who finished with a game-high six scores.
