LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Scott Visnic became the first Bucknell men's soccer player honored by the Patriot League this year when he earned the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week award following two goals and two assists in two matches last week. The Bison (2-4-1, 1-0-0 PL) won both games.
Visnic opened the week with a pair of goals in a 3-2 non-conference home win over New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). The midfielder got Bucknell on the board early with a pair of goals less than two minutes apart just over 10 minutes into the first half. The second goal came when teammate Jonathan Hemmert threw the ball from the left sideline and Visnic rose above a crowd and headed the ball into the back of the net. The score was Visnic's team-high fourth of the season which ranks tied for second in the Patriot League.
The Hillsborough, N.J., native followed that performance with a pair of assists during a 3-1 victory against Army in the conference opener Saturday. Again, Visnic struck early as both of his assists came within the first 15 minutes of play. With six points this week, he climbed into the top spot in the league with 11 points (four goals, three assists).
The Bison are idle this week until Saturday, Oct. 2. Bucknell will face Colgate at 2 p.m. at West Fields in its second league contest.
