Bucknell Women's Golf Places 11th at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Bucknell women's golf team finished 11th among 15 teams at the Princeton Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at Springdale G.C. Freshman Kristen Phalen shot a team-low 87 on Sunday as the Bison, starting four freshmen and a senior, finished up with a team tally of 360.
Kathryn Batchelor's 176 (86-90) aggregate placed her in a tie for 42nd place, tops among the Bison, who sent two teams to the event. Phalen (90-87) and Amy Loughney (82-95) were one shot back. Emily Chiodo shot 88-90 and captain Jaime Hays 86-93.
The Bison "B" squad was led by freshman Carolyn Clarkin, who shot 81-98 and tied with Hays for 54th place. The "B" team shot 379 on Sunday and finished 14th in the field.
Host Princeton shot a sizzling 306 on Sunday and won the event by 21 strokes over runner-up Yale. Georgetown, Princeton "B" and Penn rounded out the top five.
With rounds of 75-74, Princeton's Avery Kiser won the individual championship by three shots over Yale's January Romero.
The Bison return to action on Oct. 2-3 at Penn State's Nittany Lion Invitational.
