It was a tale of two halves Tuesday night at Lock Haven as the Bucknell Bison field hockey team held an undefeated Lock Haven squad scoreless for the first half before the Lady Eagles unleashed three goals on the Bison defense during the second period of play and gained the 3-0 win. The loss drops the Bison to 2-4 on the season. Lock Haven now stands at 6-0.
In an evenly matched first half, both teams recorded three shots and both goalies, Bucknell's Liz Jordan and Lock Haven's Melissa Stubblefield, made two saves. The tides turned dramatically after the break as Lock Haven sent 17 shots at the Bucknell cage while holding the Bison to just one shot in the final frame.
Lock Haven also had the advantage on penalty corners. The Eagles were awarded seven corners to Bucknell's four.
Jordan had five saves on the game for Bucknell. Lock Haven's Stubblefield recorded both her saves in the first period. Both goalies played all 70 minutes of the contest.
Next up for Bucknell is the Sienna Saints Friday night at home at Graham Field. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
