LEWISBURG, Pa. - Spring football practice at Bucknell will officially come to an end on Saturday evening with the always entertaining Orange-Blue Spring Game at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The game begins at 7 p.m. and is free of charge.
This year's game will feature a bit of a different format. Rather than dividing the Bucknell squad into two complete teams, the contest will pit the Bison offense (Orange) vs. the Bison defense (Blue). Special scoring rules will be devised for offensive and defensive exploits.
For the Bison coaching staff the spring game will mark the climax of a very busy Saturday. Tim Landis and his staff will be hosting the first-ever Bucknell Football High School Coaches Clinic. Coaches from all over the state of Pennsylvania will be on campus for a daylong seminar.
Guest coaches will study various aspects of a college football playbook, with featured topics to include the spread option offense, the eight-man front defense and the rugby punt. Coaches will spend time watching film, attend the spring game in the evening, then finish off the day socializing with the Bucknell staff with a "breakout session" at a local restaurant.
While a large number of high school coaches have already made plans to attend the event, space is still available and coaches are free to register at the door. The cost for the clinic is $10 per person, or $50 for an entire coaching staff.
