Bucknell Concludes Competition at IC4A/ECAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The IC4A Men's and ECAC Women's Championships concluded on Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center in Boston, Mass., with Bucknell's men taking just one point and Bucknell's women earning six.
A day after running the seventh-fastest time in Bucknell history in the 800 meters, Aaron Hanlon secured Bucknell's only point on the men's side by finishing eighth in Sunday's final. His Sunday time came up short of his preliminary run the day before by .40 seconds. Bucknell's only other participant on Sunday for the men was Greg Costello, who finished 11th in the 5K final in 14:34.53. Bucknell finished in a tie for 52nd in the team scoring, as Fordham was the other school to earn one point.
The Bucknell women finished with six points, tied for 32nd out of 46 scoring teams. Four of those points came from Bucknell's 4x800-meter relay team of Jennifer Marsh, Amy Calvo, Lauren Bricker, and Christa Sawko finishing fifth in the sixth-best time in Bucknell history of 9:05.84. On Saturday in the preliminaries, with Sawko opening and Bricker closing, the team earned what is now the ninth-best time in school history, finishing in 9:06.90.
Two Bucknell women competed in the weight throw on Sunday. Maria Garcia finished 13th with a toss of 53'2 ?", while school record-holder Marjorie Grap took 24th, throwing 48'1 ?". Ann Doty finished 17th in the triple jump with a distance of 37'1 ?".
On Saturday, Bucknell had four individual competitors and one relay team participate in the first day of the ECAC meet. Monique Boley finished 28th overall in the 500 meters, finishing in 1:17.37. Melanie Buczko claimed Bucknell's first two points with a seventh-place finish in the pole vault, where she leapt 11'11 ?". Fellow pole vaulter Angie Hall did not register a height in the competition. In the long jump, Tolu Fayanjuola finished 21st overall, jumping 17'2 ?".
Bucknell track and field will have a few weeks off before returning to competition split between three meets at Stanford, Susquehanna, and Penn State on the last weekend in March.
