Bucknell Men's Tennis Falls to 0-2 in League with 6-1 Loss to Colgate

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team lost 6-1 to Colgate on Sunday afternoon and remains in search of its first Patriot League victory after falling to Army earlier this month in Florida. Colgate swept the doubles matches and took five of the six singles contests. Matt Pikus earned Bucknell's only point at fifth singles.
At first doubles, Gerald DiChiara and Aaron Saperstein fell to Evan Ambrose and Reed Hagmann, 8-3, while Nick Denefrio and Pikus lost to Jon Bedard and Eric Sacullo, 8-2 at second doubles. Asher Salam and Joe Menezes fell to Jake Heims and Marshall Wheeler, 9-8 at third doubles.
Pikus' win came over Bedard, 7-5, 7-6(3), but Colgate claimed all five other singles matches. DiChiara lost to Hagmann, 6-1, 6-2 at first singles, Denefrio fell to Sacullo, 6-1, 6-1 at second, Salam lost to Heims, 6-3, 6-2 at third, Menezes lost to Wheeler, 6-2, 6-2 at fourth, and Saperstein fell to Ambrose, 6-3, 6-3 at sixth.
Bucknell will look for its first league win when it hosts American on Apr. 3. In the meantime, Bucknell has two non-conference matches, at Towson on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and against Mt. St. Mary's on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Lewisburg.
