Bucknell Women's Lax Falls 18-8 at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Catherine Sproul and Elaine Belitsos scored five goals each to lead Harvard to an 18-8 victory over Bucknell in a non-league women's lacrosse game on Sunday afternoon. Katie Edge tallied three goals for the Bison (4-4), who were playing on back-to-back days for the first time this season.
Harvard (3-3), which also received four goals and two assists from Casey Owens, scored the first four goals of the game, then scored the last four of the opening half to grab a commanding 9-2 lead. Meredith Wright put the Bison on the board 16:26 into the contest and Andrea Paraud also scored in the first half for Bucknell, which was coming off a thrilling 12-9 win over Patriot League rival Holy Cross just 24 hours earlier.
The Crimson extended their lead to 14-4 on Sproul's tally midway through the second half before Bucknell's Amy Hasler, Edge and Wright rattled off three successive goals. Harvard tacked on four more goals surrounding Edge's third score of the day in the final 4:23.
Bison goalies Lizzy McDaniel and Kristin Gaines were barraged with 42 shots. McDaniel made 15 saves, while Gaines stopped two shots in relief in the final 10:16. Kathryn Tylander (five saves) and Kristin Demorest (three saves) split the goaltending chores for the Crimson.
Harvard outshot Bucknell 24-8 in the first half and 42-21 for the game, and the hosts won the ground ball battle 37-30.
Wright and Hasler finished with two goals each for the Bison, who next host Denver on Saturday, April 3 at 7 p.m. at Graham Field.
