
Bucknell Women's Water Polo Drops 11-10 Overtime Heartbreaker to Claremont

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Bucknell women's water polo team opened play at the Claremont Convergence with a disappointing 11-10 sudden-death overtime loss to the host team Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday, March 20.
The Bison trailed 3-2 after one quarter, before jumping ahead 5-3 to end the third. Claremont responded by outscoring the Orange and Blue 4-2 in the fourth quarter to force overtime. BU once again took the lead, going ahead 9-8 after the first overtime session, but the host team again countered with a 2-1 second extra period to send it to sudden-victory. Claremont scored first to send the Bison out with the loss.
Junior Cody Keffer led the team with three goals, while classmates Meg Blitzer and Katie Hartigan tallied two each. Blitzer also handed out two assists, while freshman Elizabeth Jensen had a team-best four helpers.
Freshman goalkeeper Mandy Bynum made 13 saves in net, while also grabbing one steal.
Bucknell is 7-10 overall and will face LaVerne at 7:45 p.m.
