Bucknell Swimming and Diving Completes Day One of Trials/Finals

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed day one of the two-day Bucknell Trials/Finals Invitational, Saturday at Kinney Natatorium. Freshman John Peterman registered the highest Bison individual finish, taking second-place in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.83 seconds.
On the men's side, William Schilling and Matt Crandell each scored third place honors. Schilling took third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.66. Crandell was another third-place winner for the Bison, swimming a time of 1:59.09 in the 200 fly.
Bison Jake Thieman, Brad Bennett, Ian Rawhauser and Peterman notched a second-place performance in the 200 free relay clocking a time of 1:26.62. In another strong relay showing, the team of Rawhauser, Schilling, Mark Kretzer and Bennett swam to a time of 3:36.95 for third place in the 400 medley relay.
As for the women, Jamie Flick, Katharine Munson, Rebecca Scheffter and Erika Mannix were the highest individual place winners on the day, all pulling in third-place finishes. Flick clocked a 1:07.38 in the 100 breaststroke while Munson recorded a performance of 2:10.96 in the 200 butterfly. In the 50 free, Scheffter raced for a time of 24.96. The final third-place performer was Mannix in the one-meter diving event notching a score of 234.25 points.
In the relays, the Bison women managed a second-place showing in the 200 free relay.. The team of Alison Faux, Kristen Skroski, Mary Krakowski and Scheffter clocked a time of 1:39.03, for the runner-up spot. The team of Lectie Altman, Flick, Lauren Reed and Scheffter combined for a time of 4:00.92 in the 400 medley relay, enough for third place.
Action continues on the final day of competition tomorrow at Kinney Natatorium beginning with the trials session at 10 a.m. The event wraps up with the invitational finals at 5 p.m.
