LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior goalkeeper Adam Edwards was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Men's College Scholar All-America Team, announced this week. Edwards, the only Patriot League selection to any of the three squads, was named first-team All-East Region earlier this week.
Edwards played 12 matches in 2004 and earned his position on the third team by posting a 3.58 grade point average while majoring in electrical engineering. The Downingtown, Pa., native started 11 games and allowed 18 goals while making 51 saves this past season. The 2002 Patriot League Rookie of the Year allowed on goal or less in seven of his 12 appearances. The owner of 18 career shutouts, Edwards did not add to that total in 2004, but is just six shy of tying the Bucknell career record.
Bucknell opponents Jason Garey of Maryland and David Walters of Penn State were named to the first and second teams, respectively.
The Bison wrapped up the 2004 campaign with a 7-9-3 record. After finishing the regular season with a 4-2-1 Patriot League mark, Bucknell clinched the third seed in the league's postseason tournament. The Bison played second-seeded Lehigh to a 0-0 tie before falling 6-5 in a shootout in the semifinals.
