LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's and women's soccer teams were each honored last week by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with the NSCAA/adidas Team Academic Award. The award is earned by teams that posted a team grade point average of at least 3.0 during the 2003-04 academic year. The Bison men's squad posted a 3.21 average, while the women's team had a 3.37 cumulative average.
A total of 363 teams (73 men, 290 women) were recognized, but Bucknell was one of just 53 schools to have both its men's and women's programs attain at least a 3.0 grade point average.
With its 3.37 grade point average, the Bison women's team ranked tied for 70th with six other teams. That standing was two spots better than last year when the women ranked 72nd out of 262 teams honored.
The Bucknell men's team placed in a four-way tie for 19th place with its 3.21 grade point average. The men have earned the NSCAA award nine of the last 10 years.
