Bison Soccer Ties Holy Cross 2-2 to Secure Playoff Berth

WORCESTER, Mass. - Trailing 2-0 at the half and with a Patriot League playoff berth on the line, the Bucknell men's soccer team held Holy Cross scoreless in the second frame and put two goals on the board to tie the game and secure a spot in the PL playoffs. Both teams held strong through two overtime periods, ending the game in a tie, Saturday in Worcester, Mass.
Bison senior Jonathan Hemmert scored on a direct kick with just 1:20 remaining in the game to tie the score of the game and send his team to the Patriot League tournament.
Fellow senior Ori Adrabi was the first to score for the Bison, sending a goal into the net on an assist from Hemmert in the 75th minute.
Josh Trott scored both Crusader goals, the first with just 6:43 gone by in the first period. Trott got his second score at the 39:49 mark on an assist from teammate Kevin Leonard.
Both goalies went the distance playing the entire 110 minute match. Bucknell's Joey Kuterbach made seven saves on the day while Holy Cross keeper Richard Whipple saved 10.
The Bison, now 7-9-2 on the season and 4-2-1 in PL play, will play again on Friday, Nov. 12. Due to remaining games on the Patriot League's men's soccer schedule, the site of Bucknell's first round tournament game has yet to be determined. American and Lehigh have also clinched playoff spots.
