Bucknell Women's Soccer Lands Three Players on All-Patriot League Teams

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Three Bucknell women's soccer players were named to the two All\-Patriot\ League\ teams, announced Thursday by the Patriot League. Junior defender Meaghan Ferris was the lone first team honoree for the Bison, while sophomore Jennifer Margolis and freshman Krista Lee Gentile were selected for the second team.
Ferris, a second team choice a year ago, scored two goals and assisted on another from her defensive position. Both of her goals came at the St. Bonaventure Tournament in mid-September. She scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Marist, while she notched her second score of the weekend during a 4-0 shutout of St. Peter's. A starter in all 15 games she appeared in, the Boxford, Mass., native has started 41 contests in her career. In her three-years as a Bison, Ferris has totaled four goals and one assist.
Over the last three years, Ferris, a leader of the defensive unit, has led Bucknell to 14 shutouts. In 2002 and 2004 the Bison posted five shutouts to equal a team record.
Margolis and Gentile finished one-two on Bucknell in points. Margolis, who tallied two goals and four assists, registered eight points, while Gentile scored a team-high seven goals and assisted on another for 15 points.
Margolis' two goals both came during a 3-2 overtime upset of American, who was in second place in the league at the time of the match. She spread her four assists out over four games as the Bison posted a 2-1-1 record in contests Margolis registered an assist.

After scoring six goals and three assists as a freshman, Margolis now has eight career goals and five assists for a two-year total of 21 points. She is just three goals away from cracking Bucknell's career top-10 list. She is also just 10 points away from appearing on the top-10 list for career points.
Gentile made a splash in her first year in orange and blue, scoring seven goals over the season's final 12 games. In one five-match stretch midseason Gentile tallied five goals in five contests, netting scores in three consecutive matches at one point. The Bison were 3-1-1 during that stretch.
Gentile ended the season ranked seventh in the Patriot League in goals and ninth in points.

The Bison finished the season in sixth place in the Patriot League standings with a 2-4-1 record, but were still alive for a berth in the league's postseason tournament going into their final match. Overall, Bucknell compiled a 7-8-1 mark.
