LEWISBURG, Pa. - While Bucknell's rousing 42-7 victory over 22nd-ranked and defending Patriot League champion Colgate involved a complete team effort, two Bison players were singled out for conference weekly honors on Monday. Senior quarterback Daris Wilson (Kenner, La./Archbishop Rummel) was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the week, while junior defensive end Sean Conover (Whitman, Mass./Whitman-Hanson) was selected as the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week.
Wilson enjoyed his third straight spectacular performance, rushing for 236 yards and five touchdowns on just 18 carries. After the Bison fell behind 7-0, Wilson rattled off consecutive touchdown runs of 50, 4, 64, 69 and 1 yard, all in a span of less than two quarters.
Wilson, who also earned Patriot League Player of the Week honors two weeks ago after torching Holy Cross for 252 yards and five scores, is the first player in Bucknell history to have two five-touchdown performances. In fact, in the last three weeks alone he has rushed for 594 yards and 12 touchdowns, leading the Bison to three straight Patriot League wins and sole possession of third place at 6-4, 4-2.
His incredible three-game stretch has boosted his season rushing total to 1,006 yards, making him the ninth player - and first quarterback - in school history to top the 1,000-yard plateau.
Lost among the fireworks displayed by Wilson and the offense was an outstanding performance by the Bucknell defense, which held the reigning Division I-AA national finalists to just seven points and 291 total yards, well below their season averages.

Conover spearheaded that effort as he spent much of the day in the Colgate backfield. He finished with five tackles, two going for losses totaling 17 yards. He recorded a sack for the fifth straight game and now has 10.5 on the season, fourth-most in school history.
Conover was also responsible for the biggest defensive play of the game, coming just after the Bison tied the game at 7-all on Wilson's 50-yard run. Conover blocked Jason Sutton's punt and recovered at the Colgate 4-yard line, and Wilson scored the go-ahead touchdown on the very next play.
Bucknell will look to make it a four-game winning streak to close out the season when it takes on Duquesne in a non-conference affair Saturday at noon in Pittsburgh, Pa.
