LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman forward Krista Lee Gentile was honored as Patriot League Rookie of the Week Monday following a week in which she scored her sixth goal of the season as Bucknell posted a 1-1 record in its two matches against Robert Morris and Holy Cross. The citation is Gentile's second of the season.
Gentile opened the Bison scoring in a 2-0 victory over the Colonials last Tuesday with a breakaway goal just 7:58 into the contest. The Haledon, N.J., native took a pass from Kimberly Cannon and raced ahead of the lone defender between her and the goal. With only the goalie to beat, Gentile easily scored for the sixth time this season.
Gentile's six tallies rank her tied for fourth in the Patriot League in goals. She has scored five goals in the last five games, including a pair during a 3-0 victory over Lafayette. Included among her team-high six goals are four game-winning scores. That figure ranks second in the Patriot League.
Bucknell (6-6-1, 1-3-1 PL), which is coming off a 3-0 league loss to Holy Cross, continues conference play Saturday, Oct. 23, when it travels to second-place American. The match is slated to kick off at 1 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
