Bison Women's Hoops Sweeps Weekly Patriot League Awards for Third Time

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Desire Almind (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional) and freshman Lindsey Hollobaugh (Loganton, Pa./Central Mountain) have swept the Patriot League weekly women's basketball awards for the third time this season, announced by the conference office on Monday, January 12. Almind was named the Patriot League Player of the Week for the third time in her career, while Hollobaugh garnered Freshman of the Week honors for the fifth time this season, and the third-straight. Almind was also selected as the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week.
In a 2-1 week for the Bison, Almind averaged 20.3 points per game and 17.3 rebounds per contest. The 6-0 guard/forward opened the week with a 24 point, 17 rebound performance in a 67-65 win at Fairleigh Dickinson. She also matched her career-high with five assists in that contest.
The very next day, Almind became just the third Bucknell player to record 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game with a 29 point, 20 carom effort in a victory at Iona. The rebound total established a career-high, and marked the first time in 14 years a Bison player reached 20 boards in a game. She also rejected four shots and added a pair of steals.
In the third game of the week, Almind was held to single-digits scoring for just the second time this season, but contributed with 15 rebounds, a career-best five blocks, and three steals in a 50-49 loss at American.
For the year, Almind is leading the team, and is second in the Patriot League, with 18.3 points per game. She leads the country in rebounding with 14.9 each night out, and also leads the conference with her 35 blocks.

Hollobaugh wins the Freshman of the Week award for the third-straight week after averaging 18.3 ppg and 6.0 rpg. The 5-9 guard hit the game-winning jumper with six seconds left in Bucknell's game at FDU. She finished the contest with 19 points and five rebounds.
In an 86-76 win at Iona, Hollobaugh connected on 8-of-14 shots en route to another 19 point performance. She also added six rebounds and four assists in the game.
In her first career Patriot League game, the rookie paced all players with 17 points via a 6-for-11 night from the field. She also pulled in seven rebounds.
Hollobaugh has scored in double-figures in every game of her career, and is second on the team in scoring with 16.9 ppg. Her point total is fourth among Patriot League players, and with 237 points on the season she is already ninth on the Bucknell rookie scoring list.
Bucknell is 7-7 on the year, 0-1 in Patriot League play. The Bison conclude a four-game road trip at Lehigh on Wednesday, January 14.
