LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman women's soccer player Jennifer Margolis (Englishtown, N.J./Manalapan) has been named the Patriot League BRINE Freshman of the Week for the week ending September 7. It is the first week for the award in the 2003-04 year.
In a 2-0 week for the Bison, Margolis scored the first four goals of her collegiate career. Two of her scores came at crucial times for the Orange and Blue, as she scored the game-winner in both games in overtime. In a 2-1 victory at Robert Morris, Margolis converted in the game's 48th minute and again in the extra session.
In BU's home-opener against Marist, the rookie got Bucknell on the board with a score 72:58 into the game. After the Red Foxes tied the contest 36 seconds later, the two team's exchanged goals again to enter overtime in a 2-2 tie. Less than four minutes into it, Margolis headed in the game-winner for the second-straight game.
Margolis leads the team and the Patriot League with her four scores. Her eight points are also tops on the squad and second in the conference.
Bucknell is 3-0 for the first time since 2001 and only the second time since 1997. The Bison host Cornell for a 4:30 p.m. non-conference game on Wednesday, September 10.
